Welcome JAH, go to the DNR website, or check the trout regulations as there are maps available which show the different classes of the streams and rivers. You can then zero in on a few to target and find access to them.
You should also consider an App called onX which will show you areas of public access.
Good luck!

OR
Simply search for WI trout streams and the website should load. Search for the County you are interested in and click on the colored map. Green signifies a Class 1 (lots of trout including natural production), light blue is Class 2 with trout, but supplemented with stocked fish, etc. Good luck!

For Grant County, WI, I recommend Crooked Creek south of Boscobel, the Big Green River and Little Green near Woodman. For Crawford County, I would wet your line in Richland Creek just north of Boscobel. These are all self producing brown trout streams.
