The Johnson Century and Citation were about all I have used since the ‘60’s until the Zebco Bullet came out. Still have a couple Johnson’s on the shelf.

I still love my Zebco Bullet….

That Bullet is not your grandpa’s Zebco. The retrieve is about the same as a nice baitcaster. I use mine a lot more than I thought I would. Still have several spinning , baitcasters, and my vintage Bronson 63.

Had a Johnson spinning reel as a kid with a underspun trigger. Loved that reel.

My emotional favorite is the old Garcia Mitchell 300 spinning reel. Got one for my 13th birthday. It had a tendency for line to get wrapped under the spool(no skirted spools in the 60’s). Also you didn’t dare use it around salt water. Still I caught lots of fish with it and you could always get parts for it.

I grew up with a spinning reel and still have it, but I decided to try a baitcaster and now they are my go to. I still drown night crawlers with the spinning gear, but everything else is bc.

Broadcaster unless fishing really light lures then I use a spinning reel.

We must be about the same age. I’m just 72. I got one in the 60s too. Went to look at it today and I couldn’t find it. Not giving up yet.

[quote=Danjeffself]Here I go over the 3 top

Spincast reels are what I grew up using and I can rebuild them, I buy the heavy duty using 20-50lb test as I mainly go after bigger catfish in the river that still have pretty, healthy lean meat. My juglines are by far the best catfishing tools I use.
