Please do Betts ! Hope you're doing well young Lady ,,,,I guess I read a different History, but I'm pretty sure some of these guys are wrong,,, Man was introduced to Wolf Country! Not the other way around,,,we as human beings are just visitors, and should respect the Land &Creatures,,,, What say you ?

Doing well, Jar, thanks. I think it’s awesome that there are wolves, bear, bobcats etc out there now. I would not want to run into one, though. Ever since some guy here got brutally attacked by a beaver, even those spook me a little. And those Canada geese with their dirty looks…it’s just a matter of time before one comes after me, lol. Yes to respecting the land and creatures, though. I feel like as long as I stay in my lane and don’t make eye contact, I’m good. 😁

I took screenshots of your pics and sent them to her. She said it was hard to see/identify but thought it could either be red wolf or domestic dog. I was hoping for something more exciting than dog so let’s go with wolf, lol. 🤷‍♀️

My guess is dog. I live over 150mi away from the very small population (approx. 20-25) red wolves left in NC. There’s also no other wolves known to live here. So someone’s massive dog must’ve just gotten loose.

Hey, I know this is a fishing forum, but I’m hoping some outdoorsmen out there may have the answer to my question.

I recently saw the tracks in the attached photos while out on a walk here in central NC. They obviously look Canine to me… but larger than any I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen wolf tracks in Michigan’s UP many times while hunting, and I grew up with a roughly 90lb German Shepard, and these tracks dwarfed both of those. Too big for a coyote, and out of the Red Wolf range. So If anyone has an idea of what animal could’ve made tracks this big, and on a military base in central NC… I’d be very interested to know. My only theory is someone walked out to the trail I was on with a Great Pyrenees, although I say that jokingly. Because I doubt it.
Hey, I know this is a fishing forum, but I’m hopin... (show quote)

My best guess is a mountain lion, not sure if Michigan has them there tho. The uneven toes says its not a dog

It’s definitely canine! Here in Mn we are up to our butts in wolves! The area I used to hunt is devoid of just about everything! Our hunting group used to shoot around 10 deer per season with many sightings now if you see a track there’s a wolf on it! Very sad! In a field by a country road 12 were spotted! Last year on road going in I saw what looked like a wolf reunion then there was blood scattered all over! Fight night in the north woods! I don’t want all the wolves gone but they are killing pets and getting closer every year because the deer have moved closer to homes and into cities! It peeves me the fed rules on something that should be handled on a county by county basis! They bring in fed trapper’s when you could make money on having legal seasons! Like what was happening before the wolf huggers got it changed! Look how well the reintroduction worked in Yellowstone! They keep telling us that the wolves numbers aren’t going up! How does that work! It’s the old numbers game! 20 years of protection, give me a break!
