My dog is a certified therapy dog. We do a lot of nursing home visits. We have just started going to libraries and letting kids “read to the dog”. We are really enjoying our volunteer time now that I am retired.
That's awesome Papa. Kids and dogs just go together.
Good for you Papa, you’re doing justice to your dog and the kids, I’m sure they appreciate it.
I’d say your both very special. Kids must love when you visit.

That is really nice Papa, what makes a dog certified as a therapy dog? We had a Maltese that knew when the wife was having a bad health day. Would not leave her side, clingy is putting it mildly. On a normal day the dog was the complete opposite, would run run run like chasing the wind.
She is chasing clouds with the Lord now, i believe she earned a special place up there.

Great story Plum, thanks for sharing it with us.
It's great therapy for kids with autism to interact with dogs during the school day. Our youngest daughter was selected to read with a dog when she was in early grades of school and it does help with students who are struggling reading. The dog care if every word is right but does like the pets when done.
Now that same kid has went from being behind in reading skills to still struggling but getting A's and B's in nursing school . So just keep in mind that time you're investing with the dog and a child can make a huge difference in a kids life. I've seen it .

That is Awesome for you to do that Papaj!
What a great looking dog. My grandson’s wife has one that looks just like it. It’s amazing what they can sense.
You are awesome for sharing the dog’s ability with others.
