I’m headed to Reelfoot Lake tomorrow with my 82 year old brother. I’m really looking forward to this trip. My brothers health has been going downhill lately. I don’t know how many of these types of trips we have left. He is the fellow that bought me my first rod and reel and took me fishing the first time. Hope we catch a lot of fish but three days in a boat sharing and making memories will be the real highlight of the trip. I hope to have some good pictures and stories to share.

Sounds like it will be a trip to remember.
I remember the last trout fishing trip up in the Eastern High Sierra’s with my dad. Went and fished Bridgeport reservoir in Twin Lakes just out of the town or Bridgeport. We both caught our limit all three days and couldn’t have had a better time. At night we went to the local saloon and had beers and drink whiskey and smoke fine cigars. It was a trip I was so happy I made sure happened. Only a few months later my dad had passed. My dad and I fished up in that area 40+ years and that particular trip had to have been the finest trip ever.
I hope you also make your trip the best trip ever.

Have a safe trip #1. If it gets windy get the boat inshore and fish off the bank or around docks. Have a great trip and catch and release to the grease.

I was working in that area in 2012 my pre boat days and bank and wade fish it. Would like to go back with a boat. Not a lot of hard sand bottom that I could find. I enjoy my summer that I was there. Tight lines. Sure u will have a blast.

You are gonna have a blast.
Last time I was there there was a storm front that stretched to Texas.
3 days of wind , sleet, rain and more wind.
Fell backwards while urinating and peed all over myself and everything around me.
Harder I laughed , the higher my pee stream went.
Of course there were plenty of witnesses.
We still caught a bunch of crappie. Including a 16 inch monster.
We used live minnows on drop shots. The weather had em down and the wind made using floats frustrating.
Take a bunch of gear , it’s snaggy. And the local shop don’t have stuff to make decent drop shots.
If you have wind. Get crickets and head for the shelter of the many duck blinds. These are stacked with dandy shell crackers. Load em up !!!

Just be aware you need a special stamp to fish reelfoot lake here in Tennesee along with a fishing license. Hope you caught lots of fish.
