There was still 20” of ice on lakes in Northern WI as of last week. Those are South of where you’re asking about, so I would guess 2-3 weeks at least?

If ice sinks it would trap the fish on the bottom, it melts !! Does a ice cube sink in your drink !!

Do some research
The ice gets so honeycombed and saturated with water then sinks but not to the bottom
Warmer water below does an inversion in the lake just like in fall when the lakes turn

I liveed on a lake in northern Wisconsin a long time and watch it go out a lot of times never seen it sink ever !!
