Trout fishing, streams, rivers and lakes.
Using ultra light Ocuma 6.6 2 PC rod, ocuma 30 open face ultra light real.
20 lb branded line that floats, w monofilament 6lb test attached plus leader the length of my pole.
I fish a fly and a bubble mostly. My bubble is filled with water. Use pistal pete flies mostly. These have a small silver propeller up by the hooks eye.
I also fish meps ultra light lures using the same boober method.
This works amazingly well.
Let me know if any of you have used this method? There is a technique to it that you need to learn, but it's a real blast when you get it down.
It's the only way I trout fish anymore.
I would like to try a bombers, what size do they come in. LOL!!
Welcome to the Stage Ff. I've been fishing for years with flies and a casting bubble. I have a lot of luck with wooly buggers. I'm generally doing that from a float tube. If I bring my fly rod I'll use that with a sinking line. If not the bubble works just as well.
I'd be interested to hear your technique. Maybe that would help me to kill this skunk that's been following me around for the past two years. December 2019 was the last trout I caught. It was a really nice one, 7 or 8 pounds or so. Still.
There is no such thing as an open face spincast reel

Hey it's his damn reel, he can call it whatever he wants. And be careful, or you might learn something.

It would be a little clearer to call closed face reels "Spincasters" and open face ( with a bail ) reels "Spinning" but let's not quibble.

Welcome fly. When I was younger I used your technique in Taylor Reservior near Gunnison. It was a great night fishing & early morning way to catch some good fish. Tight lines.

That's correct Nutz, because that's what they are.

Fred, I'm sure you could come up with a more complicated solution to the question of nomenclature for those 2 types of reels. Spinning & spincasting is much too simple.

I'll sleep on it Coon, but apparently it's not so simple, there's still confusion. Have a good night buddy.
I go with a 5’ to 6.5’ rod depend on the water I’m fishing. Mitchell 310x or equivalent, with 2lb test. Mostly spinners, Rooster Tails, Panther Martins, etc. or small spoons. The smaller, the lighter the better. Flys and bubble are great.

We use the bubble free lining live mullet for speckled trout, redfish and flounder. Works great.
What kind of reel you’all call this ? It’s a pretty light action I have used for trout with the bubble float. But my main ultralight is a 7ft Berkley trout ultralight with 4 lb hybrid mono/floro line. I have a Shimano 200 series rear drag spinning reel.
