3 Days Offshore, too much for 1st timer?
This past weekend I got an offer to join a group of guys on 3-days of offshore fishing (we would be coming back in and staying on land each night). I fish all the time but freshwater. I've only been on a saltwater fishing trip a few times and never offshore.
Is 3 days too much? It seems like an amazing change to learn and enjoy some killer fishing and time with other fishermen, but seems like it might be physically brutal to go 3 days in a row if not used to this?
Dumb to go or dumb not to seize this opportunity?

You’ll probably regret if you don’t go- grab some Dramamine just in case (if you’ve never been offshore in rough chop, it could make you sick) and have fun! I love offshore fishing, it’s a different animal than what you’re used to, but it’s an awesome time!

Dumb to not seize the opportunity. 3 days offshore ain't much, especially if you are sleeping on land.
For sea sickness the top of the line shit is Scopoderm aka Hyoscine. Since youll be sleeping on land it may be overkill and some folks have a lot of side effects on it, but when the motion of the ocean is killing you its worth it.
Stay hydrated, and don't hit the sauce too hard. You don't want to be hungover offshore if you ain't ready for it.

As an avid off shore fisherman I would definitely suggest you seize the moment. You never know what you're going to feel in. Leave the adult beverages alone until you're sure you're not prone to sea sickness. Enjoy!
Go for it. Spend the night offshore with lights on your hot spot of the day! An experance all should enjoy. Party boats in Gulf of Mexico do 2-3 day trips way offshore where the big fish live! Get your sea legs and dramamine for security or eat plenty of ginger days before.
If the boat is big enough so you can cop a break or a nap, go for it, but yow will need your me time...
Bonnie is what you want for the sea, take it each night.
I would prefer a 3-day off shore where you are out for the entire time. I believe they largely fish for yellowfin tuna. Maybe Goliath Grouper. But going back in each time does not give you time enough to get out off of the Carribean shelf I hear.
Just Do It! Hopefully your first trip will be a flat water experience. We were 54 miles off shore of the Cape Fear River Inlet running almost 40 mph on this day. Some days are a lot rougher, and some days change from bad to good, and others change from good to bad. I don't really ever get sick at sea, but then don't be bending over at the waist either......squat when you need something. Take saltine crackers with you and munch on them all day, and like others have said HYDRATE! Hanging over the edge ain't fun, but if you gotta call Ralph, clean up, eat crackers and drink water.....at least then you have something to chuck, as the dry heaving will kill ya! Good Luck and yank their lips off!
Been going offshore for many years . It might be a little hard the first time but ,go for it you will love it ,and if you dont ,just dont go the 2nt. time . But dont give up the chance to try it !!!
