What is the best time of year and place to charter a boat for dolphin in Florida? Is there any places in Florida to catch dolphin safely with a 17 foot aluminum center cockpit Klamath? The same question goes for any other U.S. location. Thanks

They're caught all along the east cost, from NY south. They're a gulfstream fish though so are usually caught offshore. They come in closer it the warm water eddys that peel off the gulfstream. Anywhere the eddys come close to shore is an opportunity. I'm sure some of the Florida members will come up with suggestions, and Gordon might know of areas around SC. Good luck in your quest Bapa.

Dolphin fish mostly run in the Keys late May and June but am be caught all year. Look for weed line and flouting items. Off shore 200ft to1200ft. I’m Key Largo about starting 7 miles out. I would be nervous in 18ft boat. Weather and seas can change quickly.

I was between Miami and Nassau when I caught mine. As for the boat, stay close to shore— even the young guys couldn’t stand in the 30 footer I was in.

In Florida I would suggest Capt. Nick Stanczyk at Bud and Mary's Marina , Islamorada in the Keys or Jonathan Riordan at Tailhunters in La Paz, Mexico
