Just north of Eugene is Junction City, OR. After ODFW planted some brooders in Junction City Pond, I tried my luck with an ultra-light outfit using 4-lb test line. 9-pound Rainbow.

Nice. Your post put me into research mode. When I looked at the photo I immediately said cutthroat. My preconceived idea may have had me releasing a lot of bows thinking they were cutthroat. For years, I thought bows could not have the red/orange mark on the throat. I guess jaw vs. eye is the bottom line, though white tip fins and spot progression also come into play. Thanks again

They release the hatchery-spawned steelhead into lakes around the state. Steelhead can come back for several years to spawn before they die so they put some of them in the lakes to give people the chance to catch a big fish.

Nice!!!

We use ul setups in NE Ohio to catch steelhead. Takes fishing to a whole new level.
