What part of the Gulf are you fishing?

Don't know much about the Gulf, but was over at Nags Head NC last week and each surf fisher were showing me their catches. So fall fishing in the Atlantic must be doing well.

Welcome to the Forum, Josey. I see by your location you're from the Ft. Morgan area, a very beautiful place, but fish the AL. Gulf Coast? I think I know why. Are you visiting or living there? What do you have for equipment? What type of fishing are you familiar with? AL. only has 40 miles of Coast line and it is all condos but narrow it down a little, please.

Josey, You should be able to catch some whiting on you crappie gear, check out the harbors & canals during moving water times with live shrimp or from the surf. You don't have to be out very far for whitings, just past the first sand drift. There should be some pubic piers around there that will provide decent fishing. Also talk to the locals on the surf or on the piers or at the bait shops and see what they are doing or using. Check to see if there some local fishing forums you can monitor. Your bass gear will be heavy enough for pier or surf fishing. Make sure you clean your gear off after each use. Keep us posted. Good Luck!

Sorry Josey, Can’t help you in those waters. I live near the Galveston and Corpus Christy Gulf Coast but there’s plenty of Alabama and Carolina folks here to help. Good luck. 👍

Surf fishing is like fishing in the wrong place. It is great if you are fishing inlets.
Water is shallow here and water movement determines your catch rate. Bridges help too. Knowing your water is important here. Not at all like the Atlantic. Just throwing a line in anywhere doesn’t produce. Many baits work but location is everything. Get to a pass.
