Surf fishing (Bolivar Peninsula Texas)

We are staying at the Bolivar Peninsula Texas and new to surf fishing does anyone have any tips ie best time to go and best bait

If your not picky of what you catch get you some shrimp fresh is the best but frozen will work. Cut the tail up into pieces use a size 2 or 4 hook on a bottom rig enough weight to hold it. Cast behind the breakers and hope for a bite

Are you saying use the pieces of tail for the bait?

Yes if they are large shrimp it just takes a small piece. You can get a couple baits out of one shrimp

I can’t help you with Texas fishing, but curious as to where you live in Kansas. I was acquainted with a McNutt in Lawrence about 40 years ago. Where do you like to fish in Kansas?

Morning or evening and shrimp live or dead live shrimp is costly
If you like artificial bait "voodoo shrimp" are deadly
