Having a Rough Day.
Good morning fishing friends. I'm having a tough time being strong today. My wife has early stage dementia/ALZ. She was too tired to get up to go to Church this morning and I'm sitting here researching Wills, POA's and estate planning. We've been married 57 years and were high school sweethearts so have been together about 63 years. I could sure use your prayers for strength today. It's hard to put up a calm front when I think of the road ahead of us. Thanks in advance. This is a great group and I know I have your support and prayers. Randy

Prayers for you and your wife.ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
If she has hearing aids make sure she wears them. Not wearing them speeds the progression of the disease. I noticed it in my own grandmothers. Then researched it on my own. May the Good Lord Bless you both!

You've come to the right place to reach out Randy. A few here have been in your shoes listening and supporting is what we do.
Had a scare with my bride not to long ago, best not to keep it all bottled up. Prayers on the way for both of you.
My prayers are with you and her. Life is so short.

Sorry to hear that, Randy. Alzheimer's is an expensive way to die. Some lawyers know how to set you up as best as they can, and some don't want to mess with it. Find one who will work with you. The sad part of this is the older we get the more of a chance to get it. Our lawyer said, don't worry about it, just pay for it. That was easy for him to say.
Prayers to your family, Randy.
Prayers coming Randy. Keep us posted, we'll be with you through this. π
Thoughts and prayers for your bride and you Randy. May God bless.
Very sorry to learn this Randy, prayers to you and your Wife. ππ»
Sorry to hear that Randy. You are both on our prayer list. If you need to vent,we are here

Randy - as a caregiver for 10 years, I've worked with dementia/ALZ clients all the time. I don't need to tell you how challenging each day can be. Unfortunately, there isn't a cure, only meds that slow the progression of the disease, it does get more challenging as time goes. You have my full support.
Just a couple of thoughts and you may have this info or pursued this already. Grand Junction is big enough to have dementia/ALZ support groups. If someone can stay with your wife, go to them. They will give you coping skills and support. If your wife is able to, have her do word search, puzzles, anything that challenges her like a crossword puzzle. These will help keep her mind sharp. Maintain routines for her.
Hope this helps a little. Feel free to private message me if you need to talk.

Hello Shortorder,
I'm so sorry to hear this. 63 years is a lifetime. People these days get divorced for any and all reasons. I will be praying for your precious wife. So many times I ask why God but it's not always for me to know. All I know is our loving Father walks with us through the trial. What helps me when I'm overwhelmed with worry is too stay in God's word and listen to worship music. Look up scripture for strength and read the word to your wife. God Bless you today and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding. I will pray you and your wife daily. One day even 1 minute at a time. The evil one will try to whisper lies daily...just keep strong and continue drawing closer to our Father!

Very sorry to hear that Randy. Thatβs a tough one to deal with. Been married 50 years. Came close to losing her once. You have a lot of good memories to revisit.
Youβre not alone. It says in Ecclesiasties 4:12 that when we are married we become a three stranded cord, husband, wife, and God. Ask Him to help you. He will give you peace through the storm.

I would echo what Dambass said above. I pray God will give you peace, comfort, and strength as you go through this part of your life with your bride. God WILL get you through this, brother. ππ»
