War Mouth, My great grand pa Called them government perch We fished for them together when I was a kid. From his stories, during the depression the US government stocked them in many of the rivers and streams in the south. They put them in milk cans on train cars and whenever they came to a bridge they dumped a can or so. They are very good eating and grow to impressive size for a panfish. The creeks, rivers and lakes all around this area are full of them.
Thank God and Government someone was thinking straight back then. More importantly thanks for Grandpaโs that take a kid fishing.
