Pumpkinseed sunfish
I have both bluegill and pumpkinseed in my small pond. It looks more colorful than my bluegill and not orange enough to be a pumpkinseed. I hope that vast amount of scientifically advanced knowledge helps.
And the majority has it with a Pumpkin seed fish of the swimming thumb sucking variety.

Could be a longeared sunfish. Very similar to the pumpkinseed.
That is a long-eared sunfish:Lepomis megalotis. We have them all over the Ozarks.
I believe that it is a Saluki, Southern Illinois is full of them... Sometime they are hard to catch... It all depends on how you put the worm š on the hook...

I think you are on the wrong site. This is what I found on Saluki.
Wow a fish with fur, never saw that before.
AND... very little meat on its skeleton too...that fish is starving
That dogfish is kinda bony. Must have burned off all his fat chasing catfish?
This is the Saluki I am taking about...I am aware that Saluki is a beautiful dog that in 1950 the students voted on as their mascot... The sports fan call themselves Salukiās... I would say the fish š is a Pumpkin š Seed, Just a WAG...
WHAT'S A SALUKI?
AT SIU, THE SALUKI IS A COLLECTIVE SPIRIT THAT DEFINES OUR CULTURE IN OUR HOMETOWN AND IN THE HEARTS OF OUR PROUD ALUMNI. OH, AND A SALUKI IS A DOG, TOO.

The reason Iām thinking long ear is because of the lack of the red spot next to the dark ear spot.

I see your point. But it doesnāt have that pronounced āforeheadā of a longear. Iām thinking maybe a mutation of sorts.

Good point, they can interbreed and the results are highbrid males .
