Welcome to the Forum, Chomp, sorry, I'm not an ice fisherman. I can't help you out.
Keep trying but fish very slow at different depths usually between 15 to 25 ft. Waters cold and they do not move far to take your bait. You may need to barely move your bait and put it right in front of their nose.

Do you have a sonar unit of some kind? If not you have to get one.
Thanks I thought maybe I should
You don't have to spend a lot. Garmin makes a $100 ice finder that works. But if you can afford it, the Livescope models, are so cool. You can see your jig in the middle of the screen and see fish come from each direction. But they are $2000 and up.

I don't know where you are in MN but most lakes will have crappie. Stop by a fishing/bait store and ask some questiions. You will be catching in no time.
Ice fishing is a whole different game. One thing is to look for weedbeds in shallows and fish the darker hours similar to walleye. The can be caught near bluegills.
On the ice, here in northern MN, I have typically caught crappies in 15-20 fow. I don't find crappie fishing very exciting where I live, but if you really want some nice fish, consider Lake of the Woods, especially around the NW angle. Lots of big crappies there (14-17 inches).
BTW, I am not an avid ice fisherman. I prefer drinking beer in my warm kitchen!

I am no Pro from Dover on the subject, but I have really started paying attention to the Barometer in regards to the fish biting. Seasoned Citizen like yourself, and I came to the realization that although its fun to catch fish, it nice to be above the grass and have the opportunity to try. One of my favorites is wax worms, but many time I get the small ones which are still fun to catch. Good luck, just know you are not alone.
