By far the darkest bass I’ve ever caught.
Looks like every bass I've ever caught.

Majority of the bass I’ve caught around my area (Raleigh, NC.) have been lighter in pigment. I feel bass are usually darker coming out of muddy ponds; rather than, for example Jordan lake.

Eh just depends. I lived there for years Shearon-Harris bass are typically darker and some of the lightest bass I’ve ever caught came out of falls and Jordan the mud holes.

Usually, sandy bottoms with minimal vegetation make paler bass; softer bottoms with alot of vegetation usually make dark bass.

Water color really influences their color. That one looks fairly typical for my area.

It's always been my understanding that the dark tint is the result of tannin from vegetation in the area. I fished a lake for several years with a lot of water hyacinth and the bass in that area of the lake were often much darker than those from other areas of the same lake without the hyacinth.
Clarity of water will do that.
