Bass fishing: What's a good braid to use?

I have been using spiderwire but it frays up and loses its durability pretty fast and it seems like I have to re tie my knots every few casts. I'm pretty new to using braid so idk if this is common or not

Berkeley X9 is a fine choice, it’s not outrageously priced and works quite well.

I ditched the spider wire and now using suffix 832 in the surf…the spider wire did the same for me frayed and look like it was coming apart.

I've been using regular PowerPro for 10yrs now, and never had any problems.

I have switched from power pro to suffix 832 on all my gear under 50 pounds. I originally got some as a gift and found it to be easier to handle and shows little fray fuzz. If over 50 pound, the power pro is cheaper and has served me well on my charter boat gear bottom fishing salt water. Just a note: the 832 seems to work very well on my spinning gear as well as bait casting gear. I have 30 pound chartreuse on almost everything. I have not tried the 60 pound 832 yet, but thinking about putting it on my pitching rig.

He knot you toe may be the culprit. Don't use it he fisherman's knot or a improved clinch knot. There are knots recommended for braid. I use a trilene knot or polamar knot. Power pro is a good choice. I use Fitzgerald's versa. It's aged and black in color for flipping. When braid starts turning white in color it's too old. Use a monofilament backing on the spool then the braid. It's stops the spool from getting looser and loser especially on spinning reels.

First see what the rod is rated for then look at what the reel is rated for. Next the requirements for the fish and current as well as the technique you are doing.

I personally like Sun. Strong, small diameter, lays flat & it’s easy to work.Never frayed for me. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. Try it

I use spider wire and have never encountered any of those problems.
