You guys have great Quail hunting I was told. Also love to hunt Pheasant and Quail, only thing there are to many wild Pheasants here in the central valley of California any more !!
Have a great year fishing šŸŽ£ and a safe one.
Andy

Looks like your finally getting some productive days down there Andy. Iā€™m getting your calls and texts and the pictures are coming through too. My phone has just been arguing with me when I try to respond. Winter will be over soon and should be back to normalšŸ¤ž

Wood ducks and pintails are two of my favorites, only ever got one shoveler and that was in South Dakota probably 18 to 20 years ago. Love hunting waterfowl. Very nice Andy.

We call shoveler's Spoonies or want to be Mallard or Hollywood duck.!!
We have a lot of them in are fly way and woodies that are in the river bottoms.
Big thing to us is a Blue wing Teal !! We very seldom get them in are fly way.
That's what I want.
Have a great fishing šŸŽ£ year and if you still hunt good luck and good luck during the spring Turkey season.

That's a big bull Pintail my son shot. Had 7inch tails
Good fishing to you this year and your family. The boys got me a Cannon Down Rigger for Christmas I've never had one or used one will be a learning experience!!
Andy

I bought and learned how to use a downrigger this past year. Caught trout and Kokanee with it (down to 100' !), and am hoping to get out to San Luis for stripers this week. It's great to be able to put a lure right at the depth you see the fish at on the sonar without adding weights or guessing where it is.

I maybe wrong but as a kid I was told what you called a Shovelers we call Spoonbills, close to Mallards but less desirable because of their diet.

You are right !!
We take all the duck brest and grind them up with lean pork and make Slim Jim sticks out of the meat.
They are a good looking bird for the colors.
Have a good year fishing and rest of duck season.
