I was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force in 1957, and when on active duty was told "they don't need pilots, they don't even need officers"! So spend my time in the active reserves. Just Sayin...RJS

No~ Unfortunately, I was not given a flying contract. All I ever wanted to do was to fly in the Air Force from the time I was in the first grade. But upon graduating college, the Air Force medics found I had a scar on my left eye lens. Since the war in Korea was winding down and Viet Nam had not reared its head, I was only allowed to be in the reserves. Just Sayin...RJS

I was just curious, my father was a airplane mechanic in the Air Force from like 1960 to 1966 I believe. He got out about 2 months before his squadron was sent to Vietnam.
