Anyone have any pack rod recommendations? I don’t like the idea of a telescopic one. I saw one before and it just seemed like junk. But if someone knows of a durable one maybe I’d try it. The pack rods seem more durable. I’d like a pack rod for salt water but I wouldn’t be targeting giants. So I was thinking either medium or medium heavy.

If you have a car with a roof top luggage rack. There are companies that make cylinders that fit on a roof of a camper shell or on a car roof. Then you buy a bag that stores reels. The rod tubes are lockable.
You won’t find too many medium/medium heavy pack rods out there. Most are ultralight to light designed for trout. Look around. Check websites and catalogs of rod manufacturers as well as places like Bass Pro Shops.
When I couldn’t find what I wanted I built my own.
