Folks I’m heading out at high tide tomorrow to do some pier fishing and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to my choice of bait. Using blue cheese or smoked cheese with a bright imitation maggot.
Have some time to get alternatives if anyone has a better suggestion.

Where are you fishing and what are you aiming for?

The spot I’m headed to can turn up mackerel, pollock, wrasse and for some reason on occasion eel
I’m aiming for this to be a regular hobby for relaxation but ideally to turn up some food.

Throw a 1/4-1/2 ounce brightly colored iron, or if you are just using cut bait, use squid or mackel chunks on a dropper loop with a 1-3 ounce weight depending on current.

In boston Massachusetts usa i fished pollock we used clam meat as bait really stinky and easy to hook with a 5oz weight to counter the current. Lots of asians were using a line with 5 hooks tied to flashy small spoons they were catching mackerel 3 to 4 a shot cos they move in groups.

How’s the weather up there these days?

Set to be some rain tomorrow which should hopefully give me a clear spot cause I read sometimes it’s packed there.
