My youngest daughter lives in CH.
I live in Orland and was one of the first members that started Orland Outfitters. We fished Salmon, Trout, steelhead, Stripers, Bass and Sturgon from redding to meridian. I have been in this area most of my life except for the 20 years I spent in the army. I would be glad to get with you and share whatever I can with you.
I lived up there for several years in the 70's but fishing was usually good where ever you could get on the water but hiring a guide would be a smart move for larger salmon and steelhead. Ball's Ferry was the place in those times but for trout, Rainbows, any of the parks on Sacramento from Redding to Andersen would be fun. I used fish above the Cypress Street Bridge in Redding and don't know if that is available, might be built up but I would catch Rainbow Trout on night crawlers, and every New Years would Steelhead fish. The year I moved back, they caught a few 10 pounders, really nice Steelhead there....LOL!
Fly fishing from the Cypress Street Bridge is bring in nice Rainbows to 6 pounds with an occasional nice steelie in the 12-14 pound range. Check with the Fly shop in Redding as they have 89-10 drift boats a day out and it is catch and release.

Right on everybody... thanks for jumping in. Yeah, I am not much for guide fishing... but it is the way to go for some.
I know about the Redding Fly shop great place... We do have our own drift boat and a couple of kayaks.
Fishing Fool what has your set up been to fool those trout and steelhead???
hookinjack, might your name really be Bill?
Orland Outfitters is a great outfit
sliding sinker, rubber & pencil weight. 16" 18 " of leader with red bead and steelhead or salmon roe. You can use a large night crawler and inject it with air. These are killer ways to catch steelhead in the Sacramento River up there.
