My 8# is the dia of 2# mono and is VERY fine. I put it on a small reel, almost like an ultra lite. It will cast a 1/8 to a 1/4 OZ jig head on a small swimbait 35 yards sometimes.

I'm lousy at technology Saw. Let me know if I got it right this time.

Smallest braid I ever used was 15. 6 must be incredibly thin!!
Not that it’s bad , just my tired ole eyes couldn’t see how to deal with it!!!
Walmart, don’t know If they have power pro but that’s what I suggest
I have my preferred braid , but I’m thinking Wally don’t stock it
The light weight your looking for , I don’t think you could go wrong with anything but spider wire and fire line
These lines , you will get frustrated one day.

So Ben, this guy Paul who has a channel called "The Nature of Fishing" was saying he pretty much just uses light spinning gear in the winter...(could be because he's from Colorado) light braid with a fluorocarbon leader and then uses a weighted belly hook (looks like maybe a 2ot from the picture hard to tell) with a 3 1/2 inch grub or swimbait. The bass he was catching were probably in the 2lb range

My local w-mart sells power pro. I found the suffix at dicks

Thanks Grizz, Last two times I went out tried cranks and jerks...had good luck the end of September and October but only got out to fish once in November. That's why I was asking about the light braid with floralcarbon leader. My cove appears dead right now. Probably most of the fish went out to the main lake. Don't see any surface activity at all. This will be the first winter Iv fished since trying my hand at bass fishing. The lake I fish at they don't start stalking trout till December 21st. How you doing been fishing much lately

I like Jbraid for the lite lines. I use to use 8# Jbraid and it was really great. Caught a ton of fish on it.

Saw - I've never tried Jbraid based on a couple reviews I've read in the past that it bleeds and consequently fades more so than other braids. Have you had this experience?

Power Pro. I like the dark green color. For muskie I use 50lb and when catching a small bass it doesnt feel any different than the lighter braids on the other poles for bass, walleye and pike.

Your welcome Dambass. I may miss a few but I rarely use a leader unless I'm finesse fishing. Then I use hi-viz braid with a 4/5' floro leader.

+1^^^^^^^

Another huge fan of the 8x j-braid 8# test. That's all I use on 4 different ul setups.

I use anything from 1/64th OZ jigs to 1/2 OZ spoons with the 8# j-braid. Along with live baits presented in several different ways. While mainly targeting panfish it's nothing to end up with large & small mouth bass, walleye, catfish & even grass carp. The 8' ul dough rod is setup with the 8# j-braid for steelhead.

I do step up to 12# j-braid on the bass rods and 15# j-braid on the catfish rods.

Yes, it bleeds/fades quicker than a lot of other braids.

I use the dark green j-braid on all my setups. I like that it fades/get lighter in color. Seeing this reminds me to cut 8' to 10' off the spool to get back into fresh line. Every time I've seen the j-braid line faded and worn and was too lazy to cut back on the line it's cost me dearly in lost fish.

Hey DB. You need to hit "Quote Reply" before typing your response. That way we know who you're talkin to. Were you askin me if I caught fish on my setup with the 8# Jbraid?

Saw, stupid question...when you say 8# regarding fishing line is that 8lb. I think your thought was your 8# braid was the same as 2# mono
