Welcome to the Forum, Lonewolfcj, They are very tasty and they like to eat live shrimp.
Lonewolfcj: I once had a house and boat shed on Tiki Island for about 10 or so years. You are surrounded by water, so much it is almost impossible to know which direction to go.
First thing I suggest you do is to Google the Texas Game and Fish Commission for their current fishing report for Galveston. I will post this for you.
Galveston Bay Fishing Report
Dec 1, 2021
GOOD. 68 degrees. Good catches of black drum and sheepshead, along with a few speckled trout and redfish being taken from the shorelines around Eagle Point. Most of the fish coming off live shrimp fished on the bottom or under popping corks. Report by Captain David Dillman, Galveston Bay Charter Fishing.
If you are up to wade fishing, I recommend the Bolivar Pocket. It is bound by the East Galveston Jetty and the Bolivar shore ( It is marked on most maps). You need to be very careful about sting rays. Shuffle your feet, never pick them up, or you may step on a ray, and that is almost a guarantee of a trip to the emergency room. You may use shrimp, but I usually used a topwater mullet imitation, like the Heddon spook. I have limited out there more than once and the water is only about waist deep for a long ways out.
