What's a good fish finder that can be quickly mounted/dismounted on a rental boat?

You can pick up any size channel aluminum at a metal supply store and make a wider bracket.
My plan is to use a 3D printer to make one out of plastic. It would need to be thicker, but then it will be plenty strong to keep the mount in place even at high speed.
Just got back from the store.
Also got a small Cabela's battery.
Deeper brand makes a chirp sonar with mapping function. Castable or clamp mount sensor ball, with wifi back to your phone in a holder.
Howdy KG,
I am in the same place you are. Planning to buy my next boat this winter. This past spring and summer I rented boats and could never find one with a fish finder. So, I bought a portable unit. I did huge amount of research and decided on the Hummingbird Helix. What a find! It has its own carry case, it’s own battery, it’s own battery charger and it’s all self contained in one carry case. The battery lasts 8 hours. The transducer attaches to the hull or transom via a super suction cup. This baby really holds tight to the boat. The helix also has GPS along with a very good quality fish finder and split screen as well. Now, the feast de resistance, this will make a perfect electric motor bow mount when I get my boat. It will adapt from portable battery to boat battery electrical system. I used the Helix the entire summer and would certainly recommend it for your application. It’s a bit north of $400 but being that it will adapt to my next boat battery system it’s a long term investment. If you have any questions about the unit I will be happy to help you out. Hope this helps.
Garmin striker 4. It is very portable, simple to use and they offer a complete unit that includes the battery, case and all accessories. It is rated higher than the Garmin plus. I have my transponder mounted to my electric motor. That is a recommended option and it works great. Typically $110 dollar range for the striker 4 unit.
I have both a portable Garmin Striker 4 and s fixed larger unit on our boat. With two people fishing, only one can see the fixed unit and the portable unit can be situated so that it can be seen in the front of the boat. Other times, when running the boat from the front-mounted trolling motor, even with only one person, the portable unit can be situated for best visibility. We have both transducers mounted, one on the front and one on the back but it obviously doesn’t have to be that way. All of that is by way of saying that even if you do get a boat later on and can mount a fixed unit, there are still uses for the portable unit and they are not that expensive. The Strker 4 comes in a self-contained carry case with 6 volt battery and a transducer that can be mounted in a variety of ways including a through the hull mount for use in a kayak.
So much good info has come in. Thanks.
I think there were multiple people commenting at the same time. I thought I was the third person to make a suggestion, sorry for the repeated information.
If your going to have your own electric trolling motor, the mount option comes with the striker 4 unit. Scotty-makes a bracket that the striker mounts to very easily. I drop it in a Scotty pole holder
This is the package version from the GPSstore.com the unit itself is $110.00. I bought the striker 4 and added my own battery, about the same size.

I have a portable by FishEagle (Lorance). I’ve asked them about what they have snd they do have several portables. Check with the other companies to see what they offer.

That's a good suggestion. Do you know if they sell Garmin Striker Plus 4 CV with a portable kit?
I was reading/watching about their ClearVu (CV) functionality, and it looks promising.
So I was set on getting Striker Plus 4 CV model, not the classic Striker 4.
But not sure if they even make a portable kit for CV.
Yes they do complete setup all in one case
Striker plus did not get that good of reviews. You might want to check the latest reviews.
No problem with mine works great I have been using it for the past 2 years
