Looking for recommendations for a higher-end spinning rod for super light weight lures

I'm looking for a rod that will get good casting distance while I'm throwing ultra finesse lures, like 1/8 rooster tails, 1/16 hair jigs, 1/10 Neds, weightless senkos and wacky rigs, etc.

Per Tactical Bassins recommendation I am looking at the MegaBass P5 Baby Plugging, which Matt throws his hair jigs on and claims to get great distance out of the rod. If I could avoid spending 450 bucks I would like to but I am not against spending the money to get something that will not only throw light lures a great distance, but also have great action for battling small mouth/trout while giving me the sensitivity I need to detect bites. Unfortunately none of my local stores seem to carry any of the rods I am looking at, including the MegaBass. I'd rather not go through a long tedious process of buying and returning rods if I don't have to. Should I just get the MegaBass and call it good since I know it will do what I want? Do you guys have any more affordable suggestions for the same task? Thanks in advance

Well, St Croix and Loomis have several rods that have great action for light lures and they don't cost $450. the rod is only half of the formula. you need to have a reel and line that accommodates light lures. I have a Micro IM6 with a Sedona 500 with 4# braid that works just fine. expensive gear does not always mean better performance, putting together the right combination of rod, reel , line is the formula.............not how much it cost.

I found that I greatly increased distance by going with braid and a long steelhead rod 8.5 feet.

I just discovered that the Ugly Stik GX2 comes in a 9-foot version in medium weight is pretty light. It should cast those lightweight lures well.

Have you considered a custom made rod?

Here are the two best rods in your category which are my top 2 poles I use. I love both of them.
(1) EDGE ROD - BWS FWR 741-2 After Gary Loomis sold his g loomis company to shimano he started edge rods. The rods are made after you place the order. Mine took 8-9 weeks to receive: BWS (Black Widow Series) FWR (Fresh Water) 741-2 the specs are 7’4” length Ultra Light Action Power=Moderate Fast line Weight 1-4 pounds Lure Weight 1/32 to 1/8
(2)G LOOMIS ROD- TRS 901-2 This pole is available on line pre-manufactured: G Loomis (Shimano) TSR (Trout Series Rod) 901-2 Lenghth 7’6” Ultra Light Power: Light. Line Weight 2-6 pounds Lure Weight 1/32 to 3/16.
Both rods are set up with Shimano Stella 1000 series reels.
I never want to take these poles out of my hands. They allow you to throw light weighted Carolina rigs and light lures and jigs. Caught a 7.4 pound rainbow on October 30th. Good luck with your search !

Had a 7' g loomis GL2 for about 15 years.
It broke a few nights ago. I replaced it with a Star Rod, Stella series. It's not a gloomis but I like it very much. Caught a speckled trout first night out. 4" Storm lure under a popping cork.
