Does anyone still use Velveta cheese as trout bait? Back in the day I used to use Velveta as bait just wondering if people still do with any kind of success
What was nice i could always hsve cheese and crackers as a snack
I use it now and then still catches trout.
Great thanks will go back to the old ways
Thank you
I haven't used velveta cheese for many years. I do not know why it wouldn't still work. If it does or does not you can still enjoy fishing and have a snack of cheese and crackers.
Want to go back in time? Mini marshmallows and a red salmon egg. Sierra Sundae. Marshmallow floats and holds the egg up off the bottom. Trout love em. Does velveeta float? If not combine with a marshmallow and it will. Or try some corn niblets.
Marshmallow and a mill warm works well.
Yep cheese and crackers and maybe that monster fish think i might try it again next month
Thanks for the reply have a great thanksgiving

I still use it. I mix garlic powder with it. Good trout bait
Works for my granddaughters in stocked local ponds.

My grandmother had a recipe for a trout cheese bait but I was not fortunate enough to get it before she passed years ago. I did purchase a jar of Berkley cheese bait lookalike this spring and used it with success. Much easier to buy a small bottle than to make a full batch of something that needs to be stored in the fridge.
MAS fish

Its been quite some time but I still use it. When I take my grandsons fishing I set them up with a bobber and velveta. I found that its a simple way for me to keep an eye on things since there attention span is that of a Labrador retriever. It most always catches trout.
Velveeta melted over low heat combined with Hon Dashi (Japanese fish soup granules). Pour into those little round jars. Killer bait for trout using treble hook.
I've caught a lot of trout on Velveeta.
I've visited some towns (won't say where) that the grocery stores stock Velveeta in the gourmet aisle.
Have a trout fishing buddy that swears by Velveeta on a #14 or #16 treble, and a shot of WD-40.... won't even try Powerbait, always says ..."it ain't broken, why would I try to "fix" something I've been using for decades that ain't broken ?"
I occasionally try Velveeta, but only if I can find those "snack size" packages, a big brick of Velveeta is kinda spendy these days, and most likely go to waste before I would use it up (not a big fan of grilled cheese made with it nor snacking on it, though my ex-girlfriend made a killer Mac"n' cheese using it and asiago and white cheddar along with bacon bits !).
