Fluke or topwaters

Do you have any reference in particular in mind?

Not really, just use a sparkly fluke, and pretty much any top water from 2-5 inches, but they also like sabiki rigs, I caught a nice one on a green back so I guess you could find a good pattern of those

Zman stuff b/c they’re elastic and the Blues’ teeth don’t shred them on the first cast
Also, glue them to the jighead/hook shank w/ super glue.

Small casting jigs are a solid option too.

Hopkins, Krocodiles, SP minnows, mag darters...
Those guys bite anything... Use a wire leader so you don't lose your lures

Thanks! I will try those. I fish them in South of France and believe me, they are quite difficult to catch. It is way easier to catch seabass than bluefish. You guys are lucky in the US!

For toothy fish I use a 11cm long lure (sinking pencil) with a tail hook only. Gives you 11cm of protection before they get to the leader. Lets you fish without a wire leader which could be helpful in clear water. It wont save you if they eat it head first but hopefully they just try to bite the lure in half and get hooked.

Bluefish will bite a tin can. Don’t use expensive lures as they chew them up. I don’t like treble hooks either as they’re a pain to remove. Basic rubber tube lures work well.

Single hook Hopkins or similar hammered spoon, and a steel leader.
We use Diamond jigs for bottom bouncing . Also Plugs on top. Bunker and eels if live bait big boys.
A few 10 to 15 pounders .
