speaking of which have you ever tried to figure out what percentage of your income goes to taxes and "fees" which is just a form of tax. I mean all taxes, federal income, Social security, state income, property, sales tax, phone tax, we even have a noxious weed tax. It doesn't take long before it is about 50% even if you are no where near being well off. more and more we are just serfs working for our governmental lords who let us keep a pittance of what we produce
When I was self employed in Oregon my business taxes, alone, were 38%. When all was said and done I paid $41,000.00/ year in taxes and I only made 100 grand/year. And that was with all the write offs I could conjure up. Don’t even get me started on employee fees in Oregon. If I paid a person $25.00/hour it cost me $57.00/hour to pay them. I had to shut down to a one man show to survive. All of that was before the feds got their claws into it. What little bit I had left went to taxes at the grocery store, taxes at the gas pump, taxes, taxes, taxes. I’m about the only one that didn’t get anything for me working my tail off for 25 years there. Did you know a $30,000.00 aluminum boat is business equipment for an equine hoof pathologist? 😂. I finally figured their little game out and legally with the help of a good accountant. Now I’m retired, living on a fixed income plus a little on the side and they STILL take most of it away. I guess we stop paying taxes with the issuance of a death certificate.
