Has anyone used the commercial made bait like Lucky 7. There’s a lot out there and have you did any good with them. Also how long can you keep them? And what about dip baits
I have wasted my money on several packaged cat baits. I do much better with shrimp, nightcrawlers, cut-bait or chicken breast seasoned with garlic and salt. I target mainly channel catfish.
Chicken livers is my go to.
Have used other livers and shrimp along the way.
That’s what I thought. I have bought several different ones and never caught anything with them
Other people here have had results with commercially made baits.
A lot of hotdog, chicken breast put in cherry and or strawberry koolaid or jello mix dry, some also add garlic.
I want to try that next year. Just don’t know how much of what to use
Fresh chicken livers never frozen stay on a single hook well.
Once they have been frozen they get mushy.

I've had good luck with Sonnys Super Sticky but prefer to make my own dip, sponge and punch baits. Good for channels and blues. I recently posted recepie for one of my sponge baits. Any bait, commercial or DIY only works if catfish are present. Haven't had much luck with most commercial bait but caught fish in same spot on mine. What's it prove? Dunno.
Gold fish or creek chubs I have had a lot of luck on them my pb on them is a 42.5 flathead
Welcome KB.
38# white cat on a foot long goldfish, about a 1/2 mile up from where the creek goes into the river.

Dollar store bagels are great for channel cats and carp. Moisten and sprinkle with garlic salt/powder, let it sit awhile and your good to go.
I gave up on hotdogs and chicken. the bagels are cheaper and less messy.

I have tried Lucky 7 and Hog Wild. Lucky 7 has a much more pleasant scent than Hog Wild does, but neither seems to work very well, which led me to not use either. All the baits mentioned here work far better than either of these two, and they’ll leave you with a lingering natural scent that won’t offend anybody....

The only dip bait that worked great was called "sewer bait" it was made in Des Moines
