I take the treble hooks off and use a single circle hook. Has saved alot of injuries .

Chris, you are 1 tough hombre. If the bite was on you did the right thing. If you didn't get another bite you
satisified yourself, that's what counts. It looks like you were using well rope for line. What were you fishing for?

While trying to release a short Striper, he flopped and drove a hook point into my thumb. Unfortunately it was in past the barb so I had to push it through. I was fishing alone so I had to control the fish and get back to my tackle box for the wire cutters there. I cut the point off just above the barb and slipped it out. I was surprised that it hurt less than I expected, and that after about 30 seconds back in the surf the bass took off like a shot!

Few of my friends have had a tough week. Have any good pictures to share ?

No pictures. About 42 years ago went home on leave. Was fishing my old haunt, Round Valley Reservoir in NJ. Was wading about the only place you can there doing awesome on a silver Rapala until something stripped line and took it. Threw everything I had with no more bites. Bought two Raps on way to parents house. Went back there next day all prepared. Tied one on and stuck the other in it's package in my back pocket (☹️). Had a good one on, bent over to pick it up and OUCH!
Longer story short, a PAINFUL hour and a half back to hospital by my parents to EMBARRASSINGLY get one hook on each treble removed from my rear!
Oh, the chuckles and jokes, and THAT was at the hospital. Even worse going back to unit and explain to corpsman to help redress it!!
Never did THAT again. Hooks went thru the box, jeans, and ME!

The 1st time I was about 9. Had to take a bus from Chestnut Hill, Brookline, MA to Brookline Village and walk to Children"s Hospital. More embaressed than injured.

Was fishing Big Creek above Pine Flat reservoir outside of Fresno back in 1997, threw a Meps (black) with treble hook across the creek and it hung in the trees. Started snapping line off the reel. Still hung up I grabbed the line off the end of the pole and started pulling line towards me, when all of a sudden it came free and came flying back towards me. The meps hit the left side of my neck and buried one of the hooks in my neck. My 8 year old son was with me and could not help. I turned drivers side mirror out and looking cross eyed forced the hook through the skin to expose the barb and cut barb off with side cutters, then ran hook back out. Within 45 minutes I did manage to land two four pound German Brown trout. If I had left to go get help would not have had them.

Ouch it’s stories like those that make you just shiver lol
I have one not involving a hook but dirty water costed me my knee replacements last Year! all from walking in a lake loading my boat and getting my feet wet with allergy ridden water. the infection got into my prosthetic knees both of them had to be removed and after 3 weeks in the ICU and then a wheelchair for 5 months I’m happy to say the doctors had me up and walking for Christmas.
It was after many test the doctors come to the conclusion the infection come through the cracks in the soles of my feet
