Opinions needed for the best marine battery for my loaded out John boat. Has electric start Honada 25hp, 40lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor. Will be adding a depth/fish finder soon of some sort. Not looking to break the bank but don’t won’t cheap quality either.
I bought Duralast deep cycle batteries at O’Reilly auto parts . I also added a two bank Noco charger which I mounted on the boat. The charger works great for a trolling motor setup with 2 batteries. I have a Minn Kota iPilot trolling motor 70 lb of thrust.

Trojan is probably the best. I always have a backup battery.

Is Trojan the name of your battery? I've never heard of that brand.

Best battery is an Optima. What I've been told anyway. That'll be my next battery anyway. However, they ain't cheap. AND, you should have 2 batteries, as mentioned before. Seprate one for your crankin battery. All the rest of the stuff can run on the other battery. That way even if your 1 battery goes dead, you can still crank up your motor and get back to the dock.
Might go with a cheaper, but still good, battery for you crankin one.

Hey Saw, check into reliability of the optima batteries before you buy. I heard they sold out and quality is suffering from my battery supplier. You might look into Odyssey brand. Seems to be the premium performance brand now. I bought an Odyssey for my car. It starts like any battery. Engine shuts down when stopped and restarts so it does get a work out. Only time will tell.
Just a heads up.
I worked for Johnson Controls for 25 years the best battery is grp. 27 29 or grp31 for your trolling motors if you have
room for them 12 volt deep cycle is great for your start and fish finders . but always make sure they are fully charge before you get to the boat ramp. Your best buddy is a set of jumper cables for that just in case we all need to get back to the boat ramp........
fish on
Trojan is a popular golf cart battery.
I put an ever start marine cranking for motor $85 an ever start deep cycle for trolling motor and everything else $95 Walmart 1.5 years no problems holding charges
Absolutely don’t have to break the bank wall mart deep cycle marine battered in mind 18 ft boat 45hp mud buddy trolling motor remote bow light no problems until 7 days off duck hunting in a row forgot to charge acc battery

The Home Depot marine batteries they carry are Exide, they have group 27 and group 31's, the 31's are 115ah which is a pretty good capacity. The 27's are less than a hundred bucks, the 31's $120 or so.
How batteries last in terms of performance depends on how deeply they are drained before charging. There are differing opinions, but even deep cycle batteries made to go through repeated discharge and charging cycles don't like to be fully drained. Using a bigger battery that isn't typically drained as deeply before charging will make the battery last longer and have more power for longer times than the one that is used until it dies.
Best advice rather than say you can use a battery for an extra day because it has the power for it is to charge it anyway if you can so that the battery is fresher and stronger. A battery used well within capacities just lasts longer. If a battery sat for a few weeks top it off with a fresh charge.
