My son and I went duck hunting for the weekend at Mendoda Refuge.
It was great getting out together .
Shot 3 ducks Saturday morning hunter's would not let the bird's work the ponds in the decoys a lot of the hunter's we're shoot high.
Sunday we shot a different pond on the Refuge and shot 6 Mallards. We we're able to call the bird's in.
Great time with my older son.
I'm going to try to send pictures

Looks like you had some fun, for sure. Evidently WI and CA differ on the term refuge. Ours are closed for hunting. Not much you can do about the sky busters shooting at ducks which are out of range. Nowadays with the new shot shells they claim you can shoot up to 70yds, but your leads have to be adjusted accordingly. I will stick to my 30yd shots as the retrieves are much shorter 😉

At $1 (or more) per trigger pull, I tend to be more selective. I also hate loosing crippled birds. Congrats on a good weekend. We need some nasty weather to push them down from Canada.

As mentioned, I also hunted Saturday and Sunday. Good hunting - two limits. Mostly GW teal, but a pair of sprig (one each day), two ringnecks, and two wigeon in the 14 bird mix. There were a lot of sprig flying, as well as many spooneys, but laid off them except for the limit of pintail.

Windy on Sunday - pretty calm on Saturday. Fun weekend.
