Fed-X today bought me my new America made St. Croix rod. Could not wait to get it in the house and get my little hands on it. Very carefully unpacked it, getting excited all over and pulling it out of the package put the tip into the ceiling fan that was moving at a high rate of speed , the fishing gods were with me today, knock the rod from my hands my heart sank but them I seen all was A OK, no broken tip the rod was fine. Gave the wife a dirty look and ask what the hell was the ceiling fan on for, and my dear wife said " David the ceiling fan is always on " and went back to her reading.

This is great story with a good ending, and even funnier because your wife’s answer. Ranger, I’ve stuck my rod tip into our ceiling fan a half dozen times, or more, I’ve never broken the tip but now I turn the sucker off when I take my rod out of the closet unless I’m in a hurry.🤭

Too funny Ranger, I usually turn to the wife and say “why did….., where did……., what did…..” and end up in the dog house for a few hours. Glad to know I’m not the only one………

Not gonna say I've never done such a thing, but not with a brand new one. If I ever did and then tried to blame it on Kathe - she knows enough about fishing rods to go get one of my ugly stiks and whip my a$$ with one of those. No. Don't believe I'd go that direction.
So, which one did you get?

😂

I did the same thing to my bass rod. Snipped the top 6" off clean as a whistle.

Ranger, Just yesterday I pulled my boat out of the water and had my lamiglass 10 foot fishing rod still attached to my rod holder on my boat. I decided I want to back the boat into the shade so I could prep it for the ride home. When I got out of my truck I walked to the back of my boat, grabbed my rod out of the rod holder only to find it was only half the size it was when I pull the boat out of the water. I couldn’t believe my eyes and didn’t understand how I broken it. As I was standing there holding my fishing rod and the three pieces that are broken from it, a city worker came up to me in his van and explained to me how it was I had broken my friend. My rod holder on the boat had my rod at a slight angle to the outside and when I backed up to get into the shady spot, it hit the sign post on the side of the road and snapped my rod into three pieces. I’m just glad it wasn’t my other friend, Mr. Loomis! Even so as fisherman, when we have an unfortunate accident happen to one of our fishing rods it’s like we’ve lost a good friend. The good news is that creates an excuse to get a new one! Good luck out there!
