Big, Welcome. This may be that S A answer, but visit and deal with your local bait and tackle stores and ask them for advice. I bet you get some good advice there. It is to their advantage to help you so that you keep coming back to trade. Other than that keep your lines wet, and take notes and read everything you can get your hands on.
I'm lost. What's with the 10%?

Welcome B75 to answer your question on how to find out where the catfish are gonna be would be to come go fishing with me on the river in south central Texas and a lot of them will be on my trot lines, some in my freezer and some will be eaten that night. Other than that I can't help you much. just saying
Plumbing. Im referring to the article I read before I joined the site.
Most of the problem is I don't know how to read rivers and lakes very well to know where the fish will congregate. I don't have a boat so I'm a bank fisherman.
Google lake and river contour maps for your state
Hi ! Just throwing in my two cents' worth; the contour map idea is very good, but somewhat limited ! When I lived in N.H., the state's Fish and Game site had over 200 contour (bathymetric) maps of ponds and lakes
statewide ! Hopefully, your state will have similar access; here in Arizona, NO SUCH LUCK ! If you can afford it, places like Bass Pro Shops, Sportmen's Warehouse, Cabela's, etc. usually sell maps to local lakes (which come plastic-coated and are essentially waterproof); they're usually priced somewhere in the $10/$20 range, depending on the map ! Good luck, and I hope this helps you find what you're looking
for ! 🙄
