I have thought that also when at a Dr. office looking at the form. The truth is most people unknowingly have most likely been in some contact with someone with Covid if they are out and about at all, but most of the time it would just be a short exposure such as at a store, boat ramp, post office or ball game and most of the time these exposures do not result in getting Covid. I generally try to stay away from someone who is coughing or visibly sick no matter if it could be Covid, the common cold or the seasonal flu besides how can you tell the difference anyway.

Was invited to the neighbors last year this time for some crabs. They had visiting guess from up north and they were headed south to their winter home.
After eating the neighbor ask the gentleman next to me if he had any lingering effects from the Covid? No was the reply just he and the wife both had a Flu like symptoms for 2 weeks and it was gone.
My brain went right to W T F didn't someone tell me before i came over. One, i wouldn't have come much less sit at a table next to them.
Good example that we just don't know.

I was at a friends garage watching a football game about a month or so ago when in Walked another buddy who had covid about a week earlier. I walked away from him an then asked about it an he said he was fine now so no be deal. Then about a half hr later he's hacking and spitting in the trash can. My buddy said something to him an he got mad about it. I walked outside an this guys fallows me an starts on me I try an stay away from the guy an he starts laughing an coughing as he's walking toward me. I tell him to stay back from me an he just laughs some more an runs at me so I drop him. Then I told him to laugh some more as he's leaving. Haven't seen him since. Sorry to go on but he didn't laugh when he left ( the owner did )

I'm fully doped up with the vaccine but had to get a negative covid test before my biopsy....which tells me some staff members at the surgery center are not vaccinated
