I'm having trouble tying 25 pound fluoro to 50 pound braid and making the knot low profile.
I'm heading to pike waters and am not keen on losing fish lol.
Any recommendations?

Pull at least half of the 50 lb off of the spool. Tie two bolen knots. That way you can spread them out. By the time you get all of the line on there you won't even see them.
Sounds reasonable to me. Just Sayin....RJS

The FG knot is highly recommended on YouTube. I think it is a pain to tie so I use a surgeon's knot but it is not low profile. I keep my leaders short enough that I don't bring the knot into the rod guides which eliminates the 'not low profile issue'.
Alberto, Albright or FT knot. Fairly low profile and strong. Can also use uni to uni knot if you find that easier to tie. FG is supposedly the lowest profile, but not the easiest to tie.
I fish salt and use uni to uni. 20lb leader 20 0r 50 lb braid.
Some anglers use minuscule (to my eyes) Spro brand swivels.
The FG is a super strong thin knot . It is a pain to tie. So much so I won’t try it on a rocking boat. Then I’ll use an Alberto
If you are talking pike fishing flouro to braid . I decided years ago, why bother .
You have a lure with gigantic hooks and a steel leader of some sort ( or at least you should ) at this point I can’t imagine a pike or musky being the least concerned about seeing your braid.
Bass and other more finicky species , yes , definitely flouro to braid using the FG or Alberto as second choice
What is wrong with a wire leader that everyone has been using for the last hundred years ?
Good point, Agatemaggot. Hard to beat a 10 -- 12" 27lb wire leader. I like the ones
enclosed in plastic -- easier on the fingers.Seems like there's mass hysteria on using
fluorocarbon leaders, which makes Ben Bragg's comment very appropriate.
