bpb and ch - mad respect to you guys and everyone else on the stage for whom fishing is a vocation. I just take to heart the adage, as someone neck deep in the rat race, that a bad day fishing is waaay better than the best day at work!
I hear you there my friend.
And it beats sitting on the couch!!!

I enjoy the challenge of learning the body of water, time spent with my fishing partner, and the solitude of a solo outing, nature, water, and my wife don’t do it😂🎣
Don't need a reason. I just like to fish
I love being outdoors enjoying Gods creation! I enjoy spotting a location that might holds fish and then seeing if I am correct. The tug on my line is therapeutic. I release 90% of what I catch, and again I enjoy watching the fish swim away.
I love just being out on the water in my boat. I had a boat my entire adult life and was lucky enough to fish the ocean and many our California lakes. Most of our vacations were planned around boating, fishing and water skiing. I’m 74 now and have balance and other physical issues and no longer have a boat because my wife doesn’t trust me to go out alone. Once or twice a year I rent a pontoon boat and enjoy the serenity of being on a boat and especially enjoy the company of my aging pug dog. She listens and I talk…
I consider myself lucky to have so many great memories of catching a large bass or Yellowtail or getting into a mess of crappie. I even have found memories of just being on the water and not catching anything. I especially look forward to fishing with my grown son and his boys once or twice a year. It’s not so important to me to even catch a fish.
I'm an outdoors person, nature's beauty, on the water I can go to the same lake 20 times and still see something i've never seen, fishing is fun to me , catching is a bonus !
The "take", i.e. when a fish first strikes a lure or bait.

What are your reasons for fishing?
Many things the number one being the escape from the life of a freshman high-school student in an advanced program so I spend 7 hours at school and some days have work and home work so it is a welcome break and some time to hangout with my friends or be alone with my thoughts

Next to breathing air, it’s what comes most naturally to me.
Putting the puzzle together. Taking everything into consideration ie time of year, wind, water temp, water color, type of fish, presentation of lure, color lure, etc etc.
All the outdoors, sun rise, friends, family etc etc is just bonus and makes it a good day even if you don't put the puzzle together.

Yep--quiet morning before sunrise by yourself, a bit of fog still hovering above the water, and BAM, a topwater blowup on your hollow body frog!! Doesn't get much better than that!

Seeing the sun rise and the sun set's being with your fishing buddies and family members. And just enjoying the good things in life!!!

Back before retiring, a bad day of fishing always beat even a good day at work. Now, my favorite thing is observing nature, our world is a true wonder. I just love being out there and just forgetting everything else.
