I recently bought a big fish 120 sit on top kayak. I want to get a trolling motor for it but wasnt sure what would be a good fit. I didnt get the rudder because there are a lot of downed trees and branches coming out of the water in the lakes I fish and was wondering I'd that would be an issue with the trolling motor. I also want to get a fish finder but more so one that graphs the bottom of the lake and terrain rather than showing where the fish are at. Looking for something right in the middle that isnt too expensive but will also be a good investment for the next 5 years

I HAVE A 13 FT. OCEAN KAYAK. I USED TWO ALUMINUM QUARTER INCH THICK STRIPS BENT AT RIGHT ANGLE. USING WELL NUTS ATTACHED THEM TO THE STERN OF THE YAK PUT A TREATED 2X4 ACROSS FOR MY TRANSOM. HUNG THE MOTOR ON IT AND ADJUSTED IT SO IT WAS JUST UNDER THE WATER. RIGGED A STEERING SYSTEM AND SPEED CONTROL FORWARD, REVERSE AND IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM. I WISH I HAD A PIC BUT DO NOT.
Deeper + . About $250 plus a rail-mount flexible bracket. Synchs with smartphone. Great for mapping bottom, saves files.
Look at Bixpy for reliable, relatively inexpensive electric motor set up.
I have had great results over 4 seasons.
Good Luck.
