What's the best place for a side imaging transducer? Appreciate any opinions thanks!
I have a 2019 tracker pro170. It came with a lowrance fishfinder and I have upgraded to a helix 7 megs si di unit.
The lowrance tranducer was mounted around the midway point between the side of the boat and the motor.
I have seen conflicting information about where to mount a side imaging transducer. The Hummingbird install guide has it mounted in around the same spot as the lowrance unit. Other information I have read says to mount the unit as close to the center of the boat as possible.
Before I start drilling more holes in my new boat I am trying to get as many opinions as possible. (I do have a mounting plate so I can make small adjustments)

Appreciate your input! Can I ask where you have the transducer mounted on the transom and what type of locator you have for the console?

On the tran I mounted it the right of the runner just a little below the water line, and it's an old unit x97 lowrance.

I said x97 I think it's a x98. It's one of those things where even though the boat was second hand to me I was scared of drilling holes there so it's a measure 20 times then drill. When I put the unit up front I mounted the trans to the trolling motor so no more holes in the trans

Question for u? How do u like your new tracker we r thinking about getting the 175 pro tournament model

I really like it. It can get a blown around a lot and both the fishfinder and the trolling motor need upgrading imo. Other then that I think it's a great boat at that low price point.

I guess it's the aluminum hull gets blown around a little more than the fiberglass ones but I can live it. I just cannot afford 50 to 70 k for a boat. Plus it's easy to tow with just about most vehicles

Yea hahaha. I had a nissan rouge with a tow capacity of 1000# when I bought the boat. It totally slipped my mind. Just picked up a 2005 dakota last week 🙄
