Well, how would they know if it had not been announced? Just Sayin...RJS
If one knew for sure when they were checking out, they could run up a batch of I.O.U.s and then skip out, by way of a funeral. The same way about notifying all your Facebook friends, By the time they learned of your departure it would have given you a chance to be long gone, and all obligations still hanging. Not that i would ever recommend such a trick! Just Sayin...RJS
Un-huh....
Good plans die hard..
they most likely were watching on line which by the way was how many funerals were held in our area this past year or so. That was one of the sad things about this pandemic so many friends died and there was not any official gathering to recognize their life or their passing. which remindes me of Ecclesiastes 9:5 "For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten."
Well, one needs to be prepared to enter eternity because even with family around, you will do this alone! I often have wondered if you die in your sleep, will the dream you are having become reality? You simply wake in a different world? Or, you never wake! Just Sayin...RJS

of course no one knows the details but I had a professor who thought that when you died you were immediately taken from this dimension of time and space and entered a spiritual dimension that is outside of time and even though we all die at different times in this physical dimension since the spiritual dimension exists apart form time we all enter it at the same time. while an interesting concept it does have problems Biblically when compared to the book of Revelations and what it says about end times which appears to be linear although that could just be from the perspective of our physical dimensions which could be different from the perspective of a spiritual dimension that exists outside of time. I think I will just accept by faith what I believe and leave the details to find out so I don't lead myself to far astray.
DC: I think I understand what you wrote. I suspect that regardless of how much we think we grasp of Eternity and the Beyond, it will somehow be different and beyond than what our human minds comprehend. It will for those who have accepted the invitation offered by Lord Jesus Christ, absolutely marvelous and 'mind blowing'. It might even be like a dog's understanding of his master's commands, limited! Just Sayin....RJS
That's what words like 'amazing, marvelous, wonderful,' are meant to convey, beyond any expectations, even when we are trying to picture it. Just Sayin....RJS

I have read that fish see colors in the UV sector that we do not see I wonder how many other colors that are out there that we don't see even now or sounds that are out side our range of hearing all our senses are limited even compared to what different animals can perceive. I think you are right there will be things that are way beyond our wildest dreams. I know these verses are talking about God's thoughts and ways but I think they also give us the expectations that what we will see and experience after we die will also as you say will be "beyond any expectations, even when we are trying to picture it."
Isaiah 55:8-10
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts
