After a catch of fish, what are your thoughts on cleaning at the dock and putting the guts and heads back into the lake? I have heard opinions, but would like the thoughts from this group. Thanks!

Following this, as I have always wondered what the average sportman thinks about this practice!
I fish with a guide about once a year for either Steelhead or Salmon and he always cleans at the dock and discards all unwanted parts back into the river. He also always asks if anyone wants the carcass or head before tossing!

In a body of fresh water I’m sure catfish and turtles will cleanup what you throw in. Large carcasses tend to float after a day or so. This is what waits for us when they hear the electric knives while cleaning fish. Catfish and crabs get what the pelicans and gulls miss. Which isn’t much.
