Anyone have experience carrying gear onto a cruise ship? I will not be happy to have lures, etc. confiscated at the terminal.

You may want to consult the cruise line. Are you planning on a fishing excursion out of a port of call?

Or maybe trolling behind the ship?

Check with the cruise line. May be forbidden. I don't think the U.S. Navy allows off duty sailors troll off the stern of their aircraft carriers while off duty. Just Sayin...RJS

trolling at 30+ knots is pretty fast even for wahoo. That does not even take into account the size reel needed to hold enough line to reach the water. And what about that net handle length?

I took a cruise where at night we kept hearing knocking noises. Turned out to be to be sinkers bouncing off the hull as the off duty crew was fishing.

I’ve brought my salmon rods in a case onto an Alaskan cruise several times. Rods abd lures into checked baggage.
But double check with the cruise lines.

I’ve taken lures that I make on cruise ships and never had a problem. Use them on the side trips during the cruise. If flying to your cruise ship port make sure to pack lures in checked luggage. I have had lures removed from carry on.

Thanks. I assume no issue with rods and reels, i am concerned what they’ll think of 14” cuda tubes with a pair of 4/0 treble hooks. They look like pirate boarding gear! LOL

I do know that you are not allowed to fish off of the back of the boat. My son took his fishing pole and got stoped before we got on the boat but they left him keep it in the cabin.
