So i been fishing for years and lately i noticed that my knots are either slipping or breaking prematurely and i end up flinging a lure off mid cast or if i get it hung up on something in the water line breaks very easily. wondering what knots you guys use and how often you retie your lures if you even retie at all.

Definitely palomar knot. Its just easy for me and its a solid knot. If I get hunt up and manage to pull it free, I will retie it, but recently its just been trout fishing. Ill retie probably once a day. Getting bigger stuff I'm sure you'll want to retie more often.

cool yeah went fishing with a friend and when he would get hung up literally had to cut his line cause his knots would not break but mine would pop off so easily. Then when im throwing a heavier lure it would just go flying across the lake after 30 or 40 cast.

I use the palomar knot. Never had any issues. And it’s super easy and quick to tie.

I don't know the names of knots enough to be helpful, but the trick to a good Palomar knot is to wet the line before tightening it down at your very last step... works like a charm.

In braid, either a double uni knot to a mono leader, or a palomar to a snap swivel.

In mono, it varies depending on what I’m tying to, but mostly I just use a a cinch knot with a few extra turns. It’s not the strongest knot, but it has never broken or untied on me while casting or fighting a fish.

I do a version of the 3 tag end knot and I NEVER retie. I only retie if my flouro ( generally 12) line is nicked up

I use a Trilene Knot for everything other then a drop shot. It’s strong and very quick to tie. It also pulls out very easily if it’s tied wrong and is very easy to visually check.

If you've been fishing for awhile and the problem is just now surfacing, I'd suggest switching out your line. Line goes bad after awhile based on a variety of factors. You might want to change your line and see if the problem disappears.
