Always feels good when someone lets you know they appreciate something don’t it? Plus it makes you want to share more again. We share because we want to but getting a little thank you, I think, makes us share a little bit more. Don’t you?
Yes Sir Catfish. That's why I do it. Some day I'll be needing help in someone else's area and hope I'll get some help.

I have helped more then a few here and have gotten at least 10 PMs from them thanking me. It gives me a big smile on my face that I can help out. I'm not looking for a pat on the back but I'll take it when it comes.
Gordon, my experience has been much like yours. Those who never acknowledge my advice or assistance, I pretty much just let it go. Don't need recognition, but a little appreciation would be nice. Do understand how this stuff can be irritating, but I've become quite mellow in recent years. Not everyone is like us though, good thing maybe, or we might become a group of doormats, DONE. Good evening.

Like you got on your Marathon trip?
Yes, Yes, Yes, I believe we all appreciate a "thank you" or an occasional "attaboy" for giving a newbie a location of a 'honey hole'! However, I don't think we can expect it every time.
You just have to 'pay it forward' and also remember that there were probably times we didn't double back to say 'thank you' when someone helped us above and beyond any expectation. I know it applies to me! Just Sayin...RJS
See that’s all I asked for is just a message saying thank you 🙏 or a friendly reminder that they appreciate you giving a helping hand 🤚 what is frustrating is when the person brags about how well they did and how much they caught and never even mentioned that it was your information that help them 🥵👎

That's way more than I would share....keep it simple if possible, I fell asleep reading all that help
My intent was to help the guy out with some knowledge of the lake, not to entertain you.
All this chatter about showing appreciation for a good deed reminds me of something. Once, my wife and I had been out to eat and came back to our apartment probably around 9 or so. As my car's lights swept the area and I was turning into my parking spot, it highlighted the body of a good sized dog lying there, completely still.
So when I parked I walked over to see what he was doing. When I got close I saw that this dog had been eating something another resident had thrown away but possible table scraps had been put in a 1/2 gallon milk carton the person had opened and filled partially with food. The dog in its eating from this had pushed its head further and further down and as it did, it cut off all air and before it realized the trouble it had created, it could not get its head out, nor could it breath! it had passed out!
I suppose it would have died within a few more minutes. After realizing the problem, I pulled the milk carton off his head and he took several minutes to recover. When he did, you cannot imagine how happy and grateful this dog was. He was now my dog! He knew I had saved his life and wanted to do everything possible to tell me how much he appreciated my kindness. When i tried to tell him it was o.k. that he should go home, he kept following me and wanted to tell me he was now my dog! He walked to my door with me, still doing little "happy hops" and such. At the door I told him again to go home, He had thanked me enough. I also gave him a 'hand signal' not knowing if he understood, but I think he did and still quite happy, he understood and finally left, and I suppose he went home.

Well RJ, I don't expect anyone to piss themselves with joy. But a reply to my reply or a PM telling me how their fishing trip went would sure be considered (by me anyway) as just being polite. And the opposite of that, which I generally get, I consider to be rude. At the very least thoughtless. Can't say I appreciate either.

Stop whining and seek therapy
No. I'm gonna continue to whine. Go back under your bridge or where ever it is you call home and stop reading it if you don't care for it. Or just continue providing us with your unique perspective. We do so appreciate it.

This is the post I was talking about from a couple of weeks ago. The fellow asked about information for a certain lake that I was familiar with, and this is what I gave him. Never got a thank you, or a you're full of crap. I'm not trying to shame anyone (well, maybe I am) so I've edited out the guy's name and the lake. I still hope he enjoyed himself and did well. Just wish we could all get a friendly reply in return for making the effort. I know
you all have had the same complaint. Here's my reply to his request:
One of my favorite lakes. It's a great lake to fish with a float tube. But if you're gonna be banking it there are any number of spots with good access from the hi way. And there is a path that goes all the way around the lake. My favorite spot is off the rocks over by the dam. Power bait or mouse tails or inflated worms work really well there. If you're tubing, a sinking fly line with a woolybugger - olive or black. If no fly rod - a casting bubble with a little water in it and drag a woolybugger around with that behind a 4 foot or so fluoro leader. If you see trout rising you can use that set up from the bank.
And welcome to the Stage *******We would love to see some pictures of lake ******* and your fish!Almost forgot. Don't forget your Back Woods or Off! Last time I was up there (last spring) the skeeters were about the size of robins and they were in full attack mode. I forgot mine and I was driven off. Remember the bad monkeys in WoOZ? Yeah. Like that.
This is the post I was talking about from a couple... (

I’m with you Spirit, you take the time to create an informative reply with more than enough specific information in an extremely friendly manner. Kind of irritates me as well. I simply block their future posts.
