After a 35 minute delay from an accident on I-84, I get to the lake and the wind is already picking up. I figure I'll run up to the north end and drift back down with the wind and current. Half mile up from the ramp, the channel under I-84 is closed! They're rebuilding the westbound bridge, and laying deck beams today. So I started there, drifting south. No hits on a worm so after 10 casts,I switch rods and throw a Neko Craw. 2nd cast hooked a 1lb 3oz Largemouth. Good start but at the end of the drift the only other action was little nibblers. Ran up the other side and drifted my Smallmouth bank for a half mile with only 2 weak hits. Wind was getting close to 20mph gusts so I called it.
Wind should die tonight, so tomorrow should be a good day.

Well, you caught more than I did, Fred. I just went to a Dr. appt., but he was a nice doctor.

You had to practice some patience before even reaching the water, but in the end it did pay off with at least one hungry customer! Seems like we've had more strong winds all over the place this year. That does affect the safety and comfort of being on the water so glad to know you used good judgement!

Thanks Yaker, yeah this year's weather has been challenging to say the least. All that much more when it's not forecasted. What I would give for a 95+%accurate local forecast.
Battling the wind is my least favorite activity on the water, wether waves, boat positioning, or getting off or on the trailer.
It can quickly spoil an otherwise beautiful day.

You did fine with some adverse conditions Fred. I was planning on going but the winds here were really gusty as well so I opted out.

No skunk, out on the water doing what you love...sounds like a pretty good day. Where to go next.....where the fish are of course! After 6 days of 100+ heat, and three more to go, maybe will hit the water at the end of next week.
Tight lines mi amigo.

At least you got out Fred. Bug said 2moro is last cool dayy. Then said I could mow or pressure wash the house or the deck. I said well nice they all involve work. All I've been doing is running errands for everyone. Spent 4hrs at t-mobile getting phones. When she's not on FB she's thinking of stuff for me to do. Feel like a handy man lol

As long as you don't always hafta keep your hands to yourself that might not be so bad Grizz.😜
