Lots of Bull Trout there and limited retention. Fun to catch but you can’t keep most of them. Trolling a blue fox spinner or jointed rapala worked well for us there. Pretty much the norm in Oregon. They want your money but won’t let you fish much for trout species.
The main lake is too hot to fish now, need to try the tributaries… Metolious arm if full of kokes on their way to spawn at the lake river line… will be gone in a few weeks
Deschutes arm good for rainbows and browns must go past the lake river line or until temperature drops below 50degrees
Crooked arm is now loaded with white fish, good size
Good luck
Billy Chinook is about 40 miles from the house and I've fished it six or seven times over the years. Have never caught the first fish of any kind in it and every time I launch a boar on it I have boat trouble. Took a friend there a week or so ago, launched at Perry South and did the Metolius arm. Cost an extra $14 to fish one day and saw a lot of fish on the fish finder, Neither of us got the first fish and went to leave and the starting battery was dead so had to paddle a long way looking for a jump! That Metolius arm is really nice looking though! Think for me it's just best to stay away from there!

The beauty of the lake is that you have several kinds of fish, yes the trout is there but the rainbows are close to the tributaries where the water is still cool, so head up to where the rivers come into the lake and you will find them. Also the big bull trout early in the season are available close to the surface all over the lake. You also have lots of kokes and those you have to locate with fish finders and finally you have small mouth bass and the are in the coves under 10 feet.
