Thanks Gordon, Right now the Walmart near my house I'm lucky to find 4 ot wide gap hooks. The shelves are bare. They have rods bu no combos right now. Thanks for your advice on the combo. I'll keep checking in at one of the other Walmarts

Hey Dambass go on the Wal-Mart web site look at what they have the Lews combos are great and also the Arbu Garcia's they will ship to the store and pick the one you want out of the two either of these combos will suit you fine

Spirito, just called Bass Pro Shops...they don't have jack right now...just the expensive $300 and up range. The guy told me to try back in a couple weeks. It's just hit and miss right now. Could pick up something on line for delivery but I heard a couple of nightmare stories about the rod that was shipped with the rod tip broken...stuff like that

Try Tacklewarehouse.com. Have purchased 5 rods over the past year. Their rods are carefully packed in an 8-foot EXTREMELY HEAVY-DUTY rolled cardboard shipping tube. The shipping tube could be used as a weapon. Their rods arrive in perfect condition. And TW provides a convenient return mailing label; if you don't like, put the rod back into the tube, tape the end caps, slap on the return mailing label and take if to the nearest UPS store. Absolutely no questions asked. There's a form for requesting a refund.

And TW's prices are very competitive. Their customer service is outstanding. You cannot go wrong with Tacklewarehouse.

The hard part will be finding a medium casting rod in a store. They stock medium-heavy and heavy. You will probably have to order on-line. Low profile reels are all going to feel about the same on the rod.

That is very reassuring. I was stressed about that and thanks for the intel on TW. I will give them a try. I did go down to Bass Pros today and lucked out with the right baitcasting combo in a medium which is what I was looking for. Boy, its sure slim pickens these days.

HG, I love Walmart...when I can't fish Im looking for bait, lures or whatever. My next purchase if the timing is right will be a combo from WM. It's like a flippen drug this fishing thing...all good.

Glad you found one. My guess is you bought a blue graphite BPS rod.

You got the better rod. I have the same rod in a med-heavy. The reels are also really good for the money. I used to work at Cabelas. Your rod would also be great for throwing crank baits.
