Hello, I have a silver max bait caster from Abu Garcia. I had it setup with 30 lb braid and a 15 lb fluorocarbon leader. I switched it to 15 lb braid with a 10 lb mono leader since I wasn’t really using to cast around reeds but wanted to keep the sensitivity of braid.
Casting on it now sucks though. I could cast the same lures way farther with the previous set up. As far as settings go everything is the same. Lighter line has improved casting on my spinning reels, why is it different on a baitcaster?

I just recently tried braid on reels, casting reels only. Put 20# braid on and use up to 10# mono for leader. My experience is that the braid lays on the reel much better and actually cast's better. Probably will change all my casting reels to braid in time. Also have to say, soft as the stuff is I hope I never get a backlash!
Re- adjust your reel settings. My 2 cents
